Capernaum The town of Kafr Nachum was founded in 150 BC on the northern shore of Lake Kinneret. The Anglicized name Capernaum is familiar to Christians everywhere in the world, as it was the home town of many prominent persons in the New Testament, including Jesus of Nazareth, who lived there for a few years. The town was abandoned and left in ruins in the eleventh century AD. More information:
