Mamshit Mamshit was founded by Nabatean Arabs in 100 BC, along the ancient Spice Route between Petra and Gaza. Romans took control of the city in the second century AD, and since the 4th century the site was inhabited by Byzantine Christians, until the city was destroyed in the wars of the 7th century. Mamshit is located in a beautiful landscape, next to a deep canyon and surrounded by high mountains. The area of the ancient walled city is approximately 0.02 kmē. More information:
