New Lagoon

New Lagoon is a manmade bay in eastern Eilat, with a short canal connection to the Red Sea. The commercial hotel and beach area of Eilat ends at Herod’s Palace, which is right next to the canal of New Lagoon. The area from New Lagoon to the border of Jordan is currently wasteland, but the commercial tourist resorts will be expanded here in the near future. The shore section of the Red Sea in front of New Lagoon (and east of Herod’s Palace) is called Sunbay Beach.
