Qumran

The name Qumran became world-famous in the early 20th century, as the site where the oldest scrolls of the Hebrew Bible were discovered. The settlement of Qumran was founded by Jews in 120 BC, and it thrived for less than 200 years, being destroyed by the Roman army in 68 AD.
