Ramon Crater

Ramon Crater is a huge canyon at the center of Negev desert, 40 km long and 2 – 10 km wide. This so-called “crater” was formed as water caused erosion to a soft layer of stone under the bedrock in a large area. Finally the ground collapsed into a pot-shaped valley, which visually resembles a crater (while it has nothing to do with asteroids falling on the ground).
